DOTr Chief Arthur Tugade Recalls Poor Life Before His Status Right Now

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief Arthur Tugade recalled his hardships in life he gone through before his position.

On Facebook, DOTr Secretary recounts his life back when he was not in a government position. He first went through a lot of hardship; things that caused him to work harder, persevere and be more determined.

On the DOTr’s Facebook page, he shared his stories in conjunction with paying tribute to exemplary driver Alex Dayrit who demonstrated genuine concern for his countrymen by modifying the seating layout of his jeep to comply with proper physical distancing and ensure the safety of his passengers.

It is said that because of what Dayrit did, he could not stop himself recalling back his life experiences. Tugade grew up and lived in the town of Tatalon, where, despite extreme poverty he continued to dream and act to raise his standard of living, and the status of his family.

“‘YUNG HATI-HATI KAMI SA IISANG PIRASONG ISDA NA NAKURYENTE NAMIN SA SAPA, ‘YUNG PAGPILA SA POSO PARA MAY IPANGLIGO AT IPANG-INOM, ‘YUNG PAGKAPIT SA BUBONG UPANG ‘DI TANGAYIN NG HANGIN, NARANASAN KO ‘YAN. NANGGALING AKO SA WALA,” he shared on his post.

According to Tugade, he did not waver in spite of hard life. He instead exerts more dedication and determination to achieved his goal. Tugade also advised the people, as Dayrit did, that they should not let the trials be an obstacle to reach their dreams.

“Tulad mo, ako ay nagsikap. Ako ay naghanap ng paraan upang kumita nang marangal. Kung ako ay sumuko, kung ako ay hindi nagsikap, baka wala ako rito ngayon kausap mo,” said the transportation chief.
