Pateros Mayor 1st For Sinovac Vaccination To Ease Public Fears
PATEROS MAYOR 1ST FOR SINOVAC – Until now, there is still a huge portion of the public that would rather skip COVID-19 vaccinations.
As such, Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III said he wanted to get inoculated first to help ease public fears. During a Facebook video address, the Mayor said:
As your mayor, I will just get clearance from my doctor and once I get it, I will be the first to get vaccinated in our municipality. I will use Sinovac if this is available
Netizens across social media relay fears of Sinovac’s side effects. Earlier, the government’s plans of prioritizing Sinovac was met with massive public backlash.
To recall, reports regarding Sinovac revealed the vaccine was 50% effective against COVID-19. Additionally, issues further cloud the vaccine as the government refused to disclose the price of the vaccine due to “disclosure deals”.
Meanwhile, to allay these fears, Ponce wanted to emphasize the safety of the vaccine. He explained that doctors advised him that Sinovac would be his best bet as it was the vaccine “safest for those with severe allergies”.
Based on what we have heard, this was made using traditional methods. And because I have severe allergies, (Sinovac) was said to be the safest for those with severe allergies. That’s why this is what I want to use. I will show you once I get clearance from my doctor that I can be vaccinated
However, he noted that when more vaccine are available, the people of Pateros would “have the option to choose from the available vaccines”.
