Magalong Quits As Contact Tracing Czar, Palace Rejects Resignation
MAGALONG QUITS AS CONTACT TRACING CZAR – Baguio City Mayor and the Philippines’ contact tracing czar wanted to step down from his post.
Recently, Magalong attended an extravagant party hosted by Tim Yap. On the photos posted on social media, you could see several guests breaking basic health protocols.
Furthermore, Magalong himself admitted to breaking these protocols. Following this, the country’s vaccine czar wrote a letter of resignation after his attendance.
However, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said his resignation was rejected by the Palace. In his resignation letter, the vaccine czar stated that he participated in an event “where several lapses in protocol were committed”.
“I should have done an immediate spot correction of the errors that I witnessed during that time”, Magalong added. Moreover, he emphasized that although he tried his best to do his duties, the lapses on his behalf served as a reminder that a higher standard was expected of him.
“This is to formally tender my resignation as Contact Tracing Czar, Lead Implementer for Contact Tracing in the National Task Force for Coronavirus Disease 2019“, his letter wrote.
