Laid-off Construction Worker Walks 900 Km for Over a Month To Go Home
A laid-off construction worker walked over 900 kilometers for over a month just to go home to MacArthur, Eastern Samar.
A 27-year old construction worker identified as Roel Navidad lost his job in Metro Manila. He decided to go home and walked to Sorsogon last August but get quarantine for 14 days and released on September 16.
Navidad continued to walk and reached Matnog Port. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Sorsogon helped him to ride a boat heading to Allen, Northern Samar.
The jobless man ride a truck to reach Jiabong, Samar and walked two days heading to the Taft, Eastern Samar’s border control point.
On Tuesday (September 29, 2020), Department of Health personnel Armand Andor said that the poor man arrived with sore and calloused feet. They gave the worker some food and let him rest before the LGU fetched him.
The construction worker has been brought to a local facility for a 14-day mandatory quarantine. He will be brought to Barangay 4, Gen. MacArthur, Eastern Samar after the quarantine period.

Navidad lost his construct job due to the coronavirus pandemic. He went to Metro Manila for work in 2019.
