According to an article from GMA News, Makabayan lawmakers were allegedly red-tagged as terrorists by some police stations.

In the middle of budget hearing of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, ACT Teachers party-list Representative France Castro raised to the PNP Chied about the said act by some police stations via social media.

Castro added that some police stations in the provinces of Abra, Romblon, Leyte and Surigao Del Sur were rumoredly involved in the red-tagging of the said group.

“Related po ito sa sinasabi ko po sa inyo na  pagte-terrorist tagging po ng mga military, ng NTF-ELCAC, ito sa PNP rin po, ganito rin po ginagawa nila. Ito po ba ay talagang nakalagay sa policy ninyo ‘yung terror tagging sa Makabayan Bloc?”

The PNP chief then said that its Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) would continue to probe into the rumor, adding that the police would always abide by the rule of law.

“With regard to the red-tagging or terrorist-tagging of the PNP, we will investigate this. As of now, there are no feedback given to us. Rest assured we will give you the feedback upon the results of the investigation,”

Cascolan also added that it is not part of the PNP’s police to red-tag anyone. He also told them to expect feedback from him within the next two weeks, based on the report.
