This year’s University of the Philippines College Admission Test or UPCAT 2014, there will be no essay part, which included questions that according to examinees are weird, amusing and even hilarious. The UP Office of Admission announced that the Essay part will not be included this year.
During last year’s examination of UPCAT, the Essay part was introduced. Meanwhile in this year’s UPCAT examination the Office of Admission did not elaborate further why the essay part is not included in the examination.
According to the Office of Admission of the University of the Philippines, this year’s UPCAT, there are at least 83,000 high school students, the biggest in UPCAT history, are taking the entrance examination this Saturday and Sunday.
The UPCAT 2014 Exam reverts to the Multiple-Choice questions from in four areas: Language Proficiency, Science, Mathematics and Reading Comprehension. It will also be 15 minutes shorter than last year’s four hours and 20 minutes.
Out of the 83,000 students who are expected to take the examination on August 3 and 4, only 12,000 students will make the cut. There are 82 test centers across the country, including newly opened Angeles City, Pampanga test centers.
For the very first time, a test booklet entirely produced using a Braille printer or emboser, that will be used by examinees with visual impairment. It will add to the already placed Special UPCAT administered to students with disabilities.
