Shot amid the quarantine period, Quarantina Gothika is set to bring a new flavor to the industry of horror films in the Philippines.
This was done in honor of the late award-winning director Peque Gallaga who did remarkable horror films throughout his career. He passed away last May at the age of 72. Among his notable works were the Shake, Rattle & Roll series, and the period drama titled Oro, Plata, Mata, based on the article from Inquirer.
He was coined as the “Master of Horror” for giving the movie industry his masterpieces when it comes of this genre.
The film that is being honored to him features three stories of women experiencing extraordinary things amid the quarantine period. For the first episode, Peque’s daughter Michelle and his granddaughter Sophia are the lead characters. It is titled Hello Mom. This was directed by Lore Reyes.
The second one, directed by Christian Acuña, with the title In House featured G Toengi and the third one, Solitaire, features Solenn Heussaff under the direction of Jo Macasa.
Quarantina Gothika is set to be shown on Remembering Peque Gallaga’s Facebook page on August 1, 7 p.m.
Solenn shared the trailer of the horror movie with three episodes on her Instagram account. She said that this was self-shot at home under the new normal.
“Three women under lockdown…and in peril. Three dark stories in tribute to the Master of Horror, Peque Gallaga,” she wrote.
