34 Irresponsible Parents Got Arrested for Kids’ Quarantine Protocol Violations
At least 34 parents of minors who have allegedly violated the quarantine protocols enforced in Manila City due to COVID-19 were arrested.
In the Manila Public Information Office Facebook page, the parents were arrested after Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso’s warning that parent’s supposed neglect of their children is a violation of the Anti-Child Endangerment Act.
“Let’s start jailing irresponsible parents. I don’t mind kung mapuno ang ating mga kulungan ng mga pabayang magulang dahil sa paglabag sa Ordinance No. 8243. Hard time requires hard decision para mapigilan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19,” said Mayor Isko.

The mayor stressed that his administration is serious about implementing its policies, especially in times that the country is now facing a public health crisis.
“Kailangan matuto ang mga magulang na disiplinahin ang kanilang mga anak,” Moreno said. “I have to bite the bullet, I have to implement the law to keep the order in Manila.”
He said the city government has no choice but to intervene when parents allow their minor children to go outside without wearing a face mask during the curfew.
“I will have to intervene as government to take care of our children or minors. That is also the job of the government – to intervene,” the Mayor said.
Meanwhile, there are over a thousand community quarantine violators and most of them are minors. Some of them tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a swab test.
