120 Homes Under Lockdown In Murcia Due To COVID-19
120 HOMES UNDER LOCKDOWN – Health authorities from Murcia, Negros Occidental reported that around 120 homes are on lockdown due to COVID-19.
A purok in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia was placed under lockdown after 15 of its residents tested positive for the new coronavirus. The said infected residents were from the outskirts of Purok Newsite.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, Murcia Governor Gerardo Rojas said the entirety of Purok Newsite was placed under lockdown because a driver of the local government tested positive for COVID-19.

Additionally, the driver’s wife, kid, other household members, and neighbors also tested positive in the rapid antibody test. Following this, the individuals who tested positive are going to be tested for reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
As per the article, Rojas mandated that nobody from the area should leave their homes until the results of the RT-PCR test are out. Meanwhile, the local government unit (LGU) of Murcia would give out food assistance to more than 120 families in Newsite.
Currently, there has been over 40,000 reported cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Of this number, 11,073 have recovered but sadly, over 1,200 have succumbed to the deadly disease.
The majority of the cases can be found in hotspots such as Quezon city and Cebu. Moreover, due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, Cebu has been placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine.
