Man Buying Expensive Watches Using Fake Checks Arrested in Makati
MAKATI CITY – A fraudster man got arrested after learned his using fake checks to buy expensive watches and allegedly resell it online.
According to Makati City police chief Police Col. Rogelio Simon, a 27-year-old suspect who was identified in various names as Brent and Jaime Joseph. This found when police arrested him outside a condominium in Barangay Bel Air.
In a report of Anjo Bagaiosan, the condo’s security guard was also arrested for helping the suspect escape arrest as he blocks authorities and denying them from entering the establishment.
According to police, a 31-year-old Magallanes Village resident first called for help to find the thief in his wristwatch. The victim told police he sold the watch to the suspect through an online selling app on May 4.
The victim discovered that the manager’s cheque paid by alias Brent was fake. The victim’s friend later found the watch was being sold online
Authorities immediately conducted the operation to recover it. In an entrapment operation by authorities on Tuesday afternoon in Makati City, the man has been charged for stealing P1.2 million worth of watch, based on the report of Anjo Bagaiosan.
Apart from the watch, a 40-caliber gun and one-handed IDs with different names were also recovered from the suspect. The suspect also tried to evade the arrest.
He may face charges with theft, disobedience, direct assault of an agent of a person in authority, concealing of true name, and violation of the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
