WINSTON RAGOS TRUE STORY – The niece of killed former soldier, Winston Ragos, who witnessed the tragic shooting incident tells her side about it.

The CCTV footage of a cop shooting Corporal Winston Ragos, a retired military man, who is suffering a mental illness, circulated online and it made netizens cry for justice for him. He was given a hero’s burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sunday, April 26.

Ragos, 33 years old, has schizophrenia and trauma which he developed after serving 7 years in the military and he actually fought for the people during the Marawi Battle. He was shot twice as seen in the video, staggered for a few seconds before falling down, and died at the hospital after some hours.

Now, with his niece who witnessed the shooting incident going to Tulfo, she laid her truth about it. According to his niece’s statement, Ragos did nothing. He just went to one of their relatives to ask money for his cigarette. Until he met this one officer who felt like he was following him.

The said officer reported this to his fellow, Police Master Sergeant Florendo and just suddenly, things went in haywire with Florendo pointing the gun to Ragos. People were stopping and shouting not to shoot Ragos telling the officer he’s not mentally alright but things happened.

Obviously, people of their area knew his condition except for the policemen. In the video, there was a woman shouting at the officer not to shoot him because he has mental illness. Also, when asked if Ragos has a record of hurting someone, his niece refuted this and denied.

And she shared that her Tito has no gun with him inside his bag. It even took several minutes after shooting him when they finally attended Ragos’ situation. And a lot of blood has been lost and no first aid has been done. It was their relatives who carried him and not the officers.
