Police Arrested 4Ps Beneficiary for Possessing Illegal Drugs and Firearm
Bacolod City, Negros Occidental – a 4Ps beneficiary was arrested in a check-up point in for possessing illegal drugs and loaded firearm.
According to Sunstar report, a 42-year-old man, Rene Dequena, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 10 manning in a check-up point at Zone 12, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City for illegal drugs and illegal firearms Wednesday evening.
Police recovers a .357 revolver loaded with four live ammunition, a small plastic sachet of shabu, coin purse, drug paraphernalia, wallet containing P1, 199 cash, cellular phone, ECQ pass, and motorcycle.
This found out after the policemen, assigned in a check-up point in the area, flagged him down, who was riding a motorcycle, to check the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) pass at about 10:30 p.m., said Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
They also discover that the suspect was a beneficiary of 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), which recipients has been receiving cash assistance from the government as support facing the public health crisis.
The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 10 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2000, and RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
This is not the first time for the 4Ps beneficiaries and recipients of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) involved in illegal activities. As of now, there are lots of recipients who are being arrested after caught gambling, cockfighting, drinking, and illegal drugs.
