COVID-19 May Cause A Skin Disease Dubbed As COVID TOES
CORONAVIRUS – As the pandemic continues, dermatologists have found a correlation between COVID-19 patients and a skin disease dubbed COVID Toes.
Recently, dermatologists in the United States had increasing cases of a mysterious skin disease. According to an article from NBC, this led dermatologist to wonder if they are connected to COVID-19.
In a previous report, we learned that the new coronavirus could affect other parts of the body other than the lungs. Likewise, another study suggested it may even linger in a man’s testicles.

Meanwhile, Dr. Amy Paller, a Northwestern dermatologist said she encountered around 30 cases of the mystery skin condition. However, Paller emphasized that more testing was needed to determine the exact cause.
But, due to the coronavirus pandemic and other factors, the connection to COVID-19 could not be ignored, said Paller.
We don’t know for sure if it’s related to COVID-19, but when it’s so common right now during a pandemic and is occurring in otherwise asymptomatic or mildly affected patients,
As per the article, Paller stated that the timing of it all is “too much of a coincidence”. Furthermore, she suggested that “COVID Toes” may be an actual manifestation of the deadly, COVID-19.
Additionally, Paller said a small portion of patients with the mystery skin disease tested positive for COVID-19. However, she and her team still suspect a relationship.
Many have had some mild viral symptoms in the week before and it might be a sign during the ‘convalescent’ healing period when no longer contagious
Moreover, she explained that the condition may be a response to inflammation as part of the body’s reaction to the virus.
