Jessie Cris Rosales Now Working as ‘Kargador’ Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
Former WBA Oceania featherweight champion Jessie Cris Rosales is now working as ‘Kargador’ amid the health crisis in the country.
The Cebuano Filipino boxing champion turned into ‘Kargador’ as the boxing promoters all around the world have suspended boxing matches due to the rampant spread of the coronavirus disease.
Most boxers rely on boxing as their main source of income and the suspension of boxing matches leaves them no choice but to find another job to earn money and provide the basic needs of the families.
Rosales had no choice but to work as ‘kargador’ (porter) amid the coronavirus outbreak in the Philippines to provide the financial necessities of his family after his boxing matches have been postponed.
“I didn’t have any fight offer when this broke out, so I decided to apply for work in industries that are not even related to boxing,” Rosales said.
The boxer to work as porter after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia placed Cebu in lockdown as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. The boxing champ swallowed his pride in taking this type of job just to feed his family.
The 28-year-old athlete is earning P400 per day carrying heavy bags of cement into a big truck starting 7:30 am until 5:30 pm.
