Locally, the fruit is also called “Bagatbat” in some parts of Negros Oriental, batbat or eblok-ibiok in Bohol, and cabo negro in the Spanish/Filipino language.

The fruit is also often found in one of the Philippines most popular snack, the haluhalo which is also comprised of other fruits, ice cream, leche flan, pinipig, and other ingredients.
