USA Warns China Not To Use Coronavirus For Sea Disputes
CORONAVIRUS – USA recently warned China not to use the COVID-19 pandemic to place itself in the South China Sea.
These followed after Vietnam reported that Beijing shot down a trawler, according to an article from Rappler.
The State Department said that China, apparently placed “research stations” and placed special ilitary aircraft in the sea aid the coronavirus pandemic.
Morgan Ortagus, spokesperson of the State Department called on the People’s Republic of China to fixate itself on aiding global efforts to fight the pandemic, and refrain from exploiting the time to expand its claims in the South China Sea.
Vietnam said that it protested against the Chinese after the Chinese Coast Guard hindered, crashed and sunk a Vietnamese boat with eight fishermen on board.
As per the report, USA was seriously concerned about the incident, Ortagus said. The nation further challenged China’s claims in the South China Sea.
The latter last month accused USA for making a provocative act after it said that the USS McCampbell missile destroyer sailed near Paracel Islands without Beijing’s permission.
