According to Panay News. this warning followed after the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) received queries to confirm the authorization of certain individuals to sell the said unverified kits online, especially on social media, says OPAV chief secretary Michael Lloyd DIno.

Dino clarified that based on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved list issued on March 20, 2020, the “Wondfo” SARS-CoV Antibody was not among them.

He also cited the statement from the Department of Health that the kits are for laboratory use only and not point-of-care kits, adding that the government already got test kits for COVID-19.

The DOH added that there are currently five operating sub-national laboratories that are with the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). Iloilo City’s Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center are among the five.

There is also an additional laboratory currently being made in Western Visayas Medical Center. In Eastern Visayas, a separate laboratory is set to be operational soon.

As per the report, OPAV said that the FDA is currently making efforts in processing COVID-19-affiliated applications.
