This would be the first private trip to the ISS in more than a decade. According to a report from ABS-CBN, Elon Musk’s company signed a deal with Axiom Space to make the trip possible.

SpaceX signed a deal with Axiom Space to transport people to the ISS. Additionally, the trip would be headed by with a commander from one of its Crew Dragon capsules in the second half of 2021.

Michael Suffrendini, CEO of Axiom stated:

The flight will represent a watershed moment in the march toward universal and routine access to space.

However, the two companies did not disclose the price of the trip. But, if we account for the launching of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and the new capsule attachment, the project cost would be around $160 million dollars.

As per the report, the estimated price for each ticket would likely cost tens of millions of dollars. Previously, eight space tourists have gone to the ISS so far.

They were on Russian Soyuz rockets in partnership with the company Space Adventures. The first to travel to the ISS was Dennis Tito, who shelled out $20 million for an eight-hour stay.

Meanwhile, there are other companies that are involved in space travel tourism. These are Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic and Jeff Bezo’s Blue Origin.

The two companies are creating vessels that could launch tourists just beyond the border of space. With this, tickets for the Virgin Galactic started at $250,000 when they went on sale.

However, SpaceX was offering a far more ambitious project riding on the back of the reusable Falcon 9 rocket.
