Class Suspension for Thursday (February 27, 2020)
WALANG PASOK – The local government unit of General Santos City declared class suspension to celebrate several occasions.
On Thursday (February 27, 2020), the classes and government work in the City of General Santos has been suspended in celebration of its 81st founding anniversary and the 31st Kalilangan Festival.
The Proclamation No. 904 declares February 27, 2020, as a special non-working holiday in the town to give people of General Santos City the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in these occasions with appropriate ceremonies.
Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea signed the proclamation with the power and authority bestowed by President Rodrigo Duterte to declare the date as a special holiday.
Kalilangan is derived from the word “Kalilang”, which means celebration in the dialect of Maguindanaon.
