Experts Say Window Of Opportunity For Containment Is Over, COVID-19 Going Global
COVID-19 GOING GLOBAL – Several experts, the “Window Of Opportunity” to contain the new coronavirus had passed.
Now, Australian health authorities have stated that the world must prepare for an upcoming pandemic soon as new global cases of the virus are being confirmed every day.
What’s more concerning is that most of the cases outside of China had no recent travel history to China. This meant that the virus could already be deep inside communities.
South Korea On Highest Alert Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak
The President of South Korea has put the country on its highest alert for infectious diseases amidst the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
Along with this, countries such as Japan and Italy have also had a continued increase in the number of confirmed cases for the new coronavirus.
There had already been reports of the virus being not only present in hospitals, but in prisons, and on cruise ships. In Korea, a suspected superspreader could have infected thousands of members of a church.
According to News.Com.Au, University of Queensland associate professor in virology Ian Mackay said that “It is past time to say Pandemic”.
Meanwhile, the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis had stated that 2/3 of cases exported from mainland China were undetected.
We estimated that about two-thirds of Covid-19 cases exported from mainland China have remained undetected worldwide, potentially resulting in multiple chains of as yet undetected human-to-human transmission outside mainland China.
Without more information, public health labs & well resourced hospital labs setting up CDC published assay in-house are held at complete standstill, unable to prepare for what will inevitably be concern for local transmission
