The new coronavirus that started from Wuhan continued to run rampant in Mainland China with the majority of the fatalities coming from Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak.

Meanwhile, in the holy Shi’ite city of Qom, in Iran, two Iranians have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, the head of the city’s University of Medical Sciences reported to Mehr news agency.

This was also confirmed by Iran’s health ministry spokesman Kianush Jahanpur on Twitter. According to an article from JPost, the men died due to respiratory illness.

Afterward, Iran confirmed earlier on Wednesday the first two cases of the new coronavirus. This was just shortly after reports that the preliminary tests came back positive.

As per the report, the health ministry stated that they had previously put the infected patients in isolation.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Health Minister confirmed that the deaths of the infected patients in Iran were because of their old age and immune deficiencies.

According to online discussions, this is the first time there’s ever been a rapid decline of health before death in a few hours of time after reporting, so either this case is an outlier or something that happened to the strain of the coronavirus they got.

The death toll from the new coronavirus in mainland China passed 2,000 on Wednesday although the number of new cases fell for a second straight day, as authorities tightened already severe containment measures in the worst-hit city of Wuhan.
