Meaning

In terms of literature, it is prose writing about real people, places, and events. Unlike fiction, this is based on fact.

Types

Autobiographies
- It is the story of a person’s life written by the person himself or herself. This has been written by people, famous and ordinary alike. This give details about their lives in particular times and places.
Biographies
- This is similar to autobiographies, only that it is written by another person. The first ever biographies were written in Egypt about thousands of years ago.
Letters
- These are written forms of communication from one person to another.
Journals and Diaries
- These are records of daily events, as well as thoughts and feelings of the writer about them. These can be either private or public
Essays and Articles
- These are short written works about a certain topic. Its purpose is to explain, persuade or inform
Informational Texts
- These are written documents like textbooks, applications, instructions, and more.
