Coronavirus Patients in Cruise Ship in Japan Includes Pinoy Seaman
PINOY SEAMAN – A Filipino seafarer onboard a cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus.
Currently, the Philippine government and authorities do not only implement tight monitoring of the suspected nCoV cases in the country but as well as the situation of the Filipinos abroad.
In fact, the government will facilitate the repatriation of the Filipinos in China who wanted to go home to the Philippines. The country now is under an outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus which was first recorded in Wuhan City.
The root of the nCoV has yet to be determined but its symptoms are similar to a flu. The patient may exhibit fever, cough, and breathing difficulties as the disease targets the respiratory system.
In line with the move to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, a cruise ship that docked in Japan was locked down based on CNN. The passengers and crew are under a quarantine after an 80-year-old man from Hong Kong tested positive for nCoV. The said passenger has already disembarked the vessel.
Unfortunately, several people in the vessel also tested positive for nCoV. One of them is a Pinoy seaman who is a crew member of the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Based on the report, the other patients include an American, two (2) Australians, three (3) Japanese, and three (3) Chinese nationals.
According to the cruise operator, the Pinoy seaman and the other patients who tested positive for nCoV will be transported to local hospitals. More than 100 test samples of the other passengers and crew are still awaited by the Japanese government.
