Romeo and Juliet is one of the famous works of William Shakespeare. The story is set in Verona, Italy and is all about two star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet, both from two separate factions who are battling against each other.

Act I
The Chorus started with two warring families in Verona: the Montagues and the Capulets. Young men from the two factions fought against each other until the Prince of Verona interferes and threatens to banish them. The head of the Capulets held a feast in order to introduce her doughter Juliet to a count named Paris.

Romeo, the son of Montague, as well as his friends Benvolio and Mercutio knew of the party and entered in disguise. He hoped to see his beloved Rosaline but instead, he saw Juliet and instantly fell in love with her. Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, saw them and forced them to leave the party.

Act II
Romeo nears the Capulet house to talk to Juliet as she appeared in her window. They both professed their live for each other and decided to marry. They arranged to marry at the cell of Friar Laurence. There, they married in secret.

Act III
Tybalt sent a challenge to Romeo but the latter refused. This angered his friend Mercuito who preceeds to fight Tybalt. Mercutio was killed by accident as Romeo intervened to end the fight. Romeo killed Tybalt and was banished by the prince.

Juliet eventually learned of the incident. Friar Laurence arranges for Romeo to spend the night with Juliet before he leaves for Mantua. The Capulets grieved for Tybalt’s death and decided to move Juliet’s marriage to Paris the next day. Juliet refused to marry Paris, which enraged her parents, who are unaware of her marriage to Romeo.

Act IV
Friar Laurence aids Juliet by giving her a sleeping draught to make her seem dead. When the party arrived to meet Juliet the next day, they founde her and believed she was dead. Friar Laurence sent a messenger to inform Romer of Juliet’s plan.

Act V
The massage did not reach Romeo since the plague is in town. Romeo learned from his servant that Juliet died, prompting him to buy a poison in Mantua. He returned to Verona and headed to the tomb. He surprised Paris and killed him, then he took the poison and dies. Juliet has awoken from her sleep, and learnt what has happened from the friar. She refused to leave the tomb and stabs herself. Friar Laurence returned with the Prince, the Capulets, and Romeo’s lately widowed father. The deaths of their children lead the families to make peace, and they promise to erect a monument in Romeo and Juliet’s memory.
