OJ Porteria Led Azkals Victory Over Myanmar 1-0

The Philippine Azkals scored a 1-nil victory against Myanmar on their FIFA-sanctioned international friendly held in Yangon on Wednesday night. The Philippines found it difficult to score at first but the heroics of OJ Porteria paid off at the later part of the game as he scored the lone goal for the Philippines.

The 18-year-old, OJ Porteria, was an Azkals mainstay for the SEA-Games bound Philippine Azkals. He was lone goal-scorer of the match. The Philippines was able to secure a repeat victory against Myanmar White Angels.

Porteria managed to break through the defense of Myanmar at around 78th minutes of the game as he fired a long-range screamer to secure the lone goal for the visiting Philippine team.

Veteran Azkals striker Ian Araneta nearly made it 2-0 for the Azkals, but his goal in the 81st was disallowed for offside.

The victory against Myanmar was a good sign for the Azkals as they prepare for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup Qualifier to be held in Manila. They are clustered with Turkmenistan, Cambodia and Brunie in Group E.
