Matthew Libatique was a Filipino-American cinematographer of the award-winning film “The Black Swan”.  He is vying for the award as Best Cinematographer for the 83rd Oscar Awards. He gave the feminine touch to Natalie Portman who is also vying for the Best Actress award.

Matthew Libatique have been known in the world of cinematography doing numerous projects with different prominent recording artists. Libatique was born in Elmhurst, Queens U.S.A. He earned his Master of Arts in cinematography at AFI Conservatory.

Libatique have done numerous projects in collaboration with his fellow AFI Conservatory Darren Anorofsky, the director of the movie Black Swan. The Fil-Am who worked with Anorofsky for the fourth time felt the pressure for being on top. The movie “Black Swan” was competing against the best in hollywood. With five nominations for this year’s edition of the Oscars the experience was overwhelming.

The winner which will be announced later at around 8 p.m. EST at the famous Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California was one of the highly anticipated event of 2011.

Matthew Libatique will compete against Wally Pfister “Inception”,  Danny Cohen “The King’s Speech”, Jeff Cronenweth “The Social Network” and Roger Deakins of  “True Grit”.
