DoTr Says New Rails For MRT-3 To Arrive In July
MRT-3 – The Department of Transportation recently said on Friday that new rails for the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) will arrive starting July.
A Facebook post from the Department of Transportation (DoTr) recently announced that more 50% of the rails will arrive from July to August.
The department further said that the delivered rails had recently been inspected at Nippon Steel in Fukuoka, Japan by the DOTr-MRT 3 Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Team led by Director for Operations Michael Capati.
This is part of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Metro Rail Transit line 3 that is conducted by Sumitomo Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), and TES Philippines (TESP).
DoTr further added that once the rehabilitation is complete, the number of trains will increase by 20 during peak hours, with their speed doubled by 60kph, and the waiting time for trains reduced to 3.5 minutes. The number of passengers will increase to 650,000 daily.
DoTr lastly ask the customers to understand and be further patient, but they are doing what they can to finish the rehabilitation for the customers’ convenience.
