One of the Filipino actors who have remained in the Philippine entertainment industry for several decades now is Eddie Garcia or “Eduardo Verchez Garcia” in real-life.
The veteran actor is also called as Tito Eddie. He was born on May 2, 1929 in Sorsogon. However, with regards to his family life, he has managed to keep it away from his life in showbiz.
Tito Eddie has done more than 300 films in showbiz. Some people have surely watched him in Siete Infantes de Lara in 1949. But for the millennial’s, his character in ABS-CBN’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano surely left a mark.
With regards to the roles he played, Eddie Garcia has played more than 500 roles and he did not only shone in the acting field. The veteran actor also tried directing and producing films.
One of the films that the veteran actor directed was Karugtong ng Kahapon in 1961. He was also nominated several times in FAMAS for Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor.
The multi-awarded actor got several awards – Asian Film Festival awards (3), Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival awards(2), FAMAS awards(20), and Golden Screen awards(3) among others.
Eddie Garcia has remained active in the showbiz industry for several decades now. However, recently, an unexpected incident happened in the life of the veteran actor.
In June 8, an unexpected incident left the family, friends, and supporters of Eddie Garcia heartbroken. He met an accident and fell into a comatose state.
The veteran actor was on a taping for Rosang Agimat, his comeback project with the GMA-7 network, when the incident happened. He seemingly tripped on a cable wire while they were filming a scene.
Currently, Eddie Garcia is in Makati Medical Center fighting for his life.
Based on the latest report on Pilipino Star Ngayon, Tito Eddie is still dependent on ventilator now.
The family of the veteran actor agreed to put him on a do-not-resuscitate order. They continue seeking prayers for him.
