Bring Your Own ‘Tsismis’ at the Latest Pinoy Restaurant In New York City
PINOY RESTAURANT – The latest Filipino restaurant in New York City is called ‘Tsismis.
The “Tsismis Capital of Asia” is the Philippines. Filipino people love gossiping or ‘tsismis’ about politics, business, celebrities, or their colleagues.
It’s considered one of their past time to express their thoughts about another person to their close friends or office mates.
‘Tsismoso’ or ‘tsismosa’ can be found at the coffee shops, salons, restaurants, in the streets or practically anywhere.
Filipino people enjoyed talking about something or someone especially when they are eating.
The news certainly has wings. ‘Tsismis’ in the Philippines has traveled to New York.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, a Filipino chef named Jappy Afzelius manned the kitchen on the new restaurant in New York “Tsismis.” It is located in the Lower East Side.
He serves Filipino famous dishes like chicken adobo with turmeric, bangus, and halo-halo.

According to the report, the Pinoy restaurant in New York as cozy and warm settings. ‘Tsismis’ is owned by Reggie Aguinaldo and Stephen Young. Both of them have Pinoy roots.
The executive chef, Jappy Afzelius, is a Paris-trained chef. He is originally from Dumaguete, Negros Occidental.
Afzelius was a former sous chef in New York and at the Manila Social Club. He also worked in France and Italy restaurants.
Based on the report, the New York Times expressed complemented the food of the Filipino chef. They also said that each dishes has a touch of his home country.
“The flavors of the Philippines are interpreted inventively,” said the NY Times.
