Sea Turtle Rescued by Fishermen in Negros Accidental After It Was Trapped in Fish Corral
A sea turtle trapped in a fish corral at Barangay Sara-et, Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental has been rescued by fishermen in the area.
On Thursday (May 24, 2019), the fishermen of Barangay Sara-et found a trapped sea turtle and removed it from a fish corral.
The 61-year-old Fisherman Francisco Gayonga reported it to the authorities after the marine creature was brought to the shoreline.
Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental head Commander Ludovico Librilla Jr. said that the sea turtle weighs more than 100 kilograms.
The PRC also coordinate with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the proper disposition of the 20-year-old sea creature.
The authorities returned the turtle to the water after checking its condition and no injury was seen.
