There Were No Trapped Earthquake Victims Under Collapsed Chuzon Supermarket
NO TRAPPED VICTIMS – Authorities confirmed that there was nobody left trapped under the Chuzon Supermarket after it collapsed.
Search and rescue operations have been initiated to look for reported missing people after the Chuzon Supermarket incident.
Several earthquakes still kept occurring in the Philippines. Just this morning, the Philippines felt two earthquakes.
The strongest recorded quake for this year is the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Samar. Phivolcs also announced before that the big one – a massive earthquake – can occur at any moment.
Today, however, authorities from the Office of Civil Defense of OCD made the official declaration that there were no bodies find under the collapsed supermarket’s rubbles.
This is based on an article from ABS CBN News. Based on the article,
There are still 5 missing people, and police officials said that they will continue to search elsewhere.
Pampaga’s Police Provincial Director, Col. Jean Fajardo, confirmed that the supermarket was cleared in his statement:
“Dineclare na po ng mga OCD na cleared na po ang area.”
“It was already declared by OCD that the area was clear.”
The recent 6.1 magnitude earthquake caused the 4-story supermarket to collapse last Monday (April 22, 2019).
5 bodies were pulled out of the area right after the quake. In total, the quake claimed 16 lives.
Fajardo said that the authorities are still clearing up the rubble for safety reasons and also to show that there really are no people left behind.
The search and rescue operation will still be continued since the authorities learned that there are still 5 missing people.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
