DOTr: LGUs, NLEX, SLEX Prepare For UNDAS 2018
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the local government units (LGUs), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) are now preparing for Undas 2018.
On Wednesday (October 24, 2018), Retired Brigadier General Manuel Gonzales, the Transportation Assistant Secretary and chief of the InterAgency Council for Traffic said that the plans are ready for the All Saint’s Day.
The operators of NLEX and SLEX said that they will assign more tellers as the heavier volume of vehicles is expected.
The LGUs will also cancel the road repair and construction works along NLEX and SLEX on November 1, 2018, to ease the traffic build-up.
The critical areas that may cause traffic jams and congestions have been already identified by I-ACT and LGUs.
Gonzales also said that the transportation department is willing to help the enforcers to ease the traffic.
“Handa po kaming tumulong na i-augment ang traffic enforcers nila,” Gonzales said quoted by GMA.
The DOTr official said that the local government units will release rerouting plans this weekend as Filipino people are expected to visit the tombs of their loved ones in the cemetery.
November 1 (All Saint’s Day) and November 2, 2018, have been declared as Special Non-Working Holidays.
