Lea Salonga Refreshes her Memory of the Miss Saigon on its 29th Year Anniversary

Lea Salonga Celebrates 29th Year Anniversary of Miss Saigon

LEA SALONGA – International singer Lea Salonga celebrates the 29th year anniversary of Miss Saigon.

Lea Salonga celebrates Miss Saigon, one of the most successful musicals in history, every 20th of September. Now, the singer is joyful over the 29th year anniversary since their first performance in London.

She played the character of Kim 29 years ago for Miss Saigon, a musical play created by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.

It is a tragic love story of an Asian girl who fell in love with her American lover but he abandoned her. The international singer cherishes all the people she worked with, she was just 17 years old when she got the role.

At that very young age, she experienced and learned so much. She feels so grateful for that as stated in her post below sited from her account on Facebook.

The opportunity she had playing the role of Kim brought the Philippines and the Filipino people pride. Although she is now resigned from that role, the value of that experience for her is until now commemorable.

The current Miss Saigon is Miss Sooha Kim, the first Korean actress to play the role of Kim in both Korean and Japanese language. Sooha is the same as good as Miss Lea Salonga.

She indulges herself in the story and did some research about the scenes in the story.

“I read a book about the Vietnam war and went to the war museum in Korea and studied the manuscripts at school,” said Miss Sooha Kim.

Here are some positive comments from proud Filipino netizens on Miss Lea Salonga’s post:

“29 years already? Dang! BRAVO to all and to you for showing the world what we were all about. You broke the brown ceiling for all of us Filipinos and Asians in the international theater world…”

“It was a big surge forward not just for you, Lea, but also for all of Filipino talents in the world of theater…”
