Aftermath Of Magnitude 6.6 Quake That Hits Japan Revealed In Photos

Here are some photos of the aftermath in Hokkaido, Japan after struck by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake, which damaged buildings and triggered landslides.

On early Thursday (September 6, 2018), a magnitude 6.6 earthquake has struck Hokkaido, Japanā€™s biggest northern island.

The powerful tremor collapsed several buildings, damaged critical infrastructures, and shut down the power of over 3 million houses.

Aftermath

The quake also triggered landslides in near the town of Atsuma in southern Hokkaido covering the green fields with fallen trees and mounds of reddish earth.

It also toppled at least five houses in Akashima, while some people are buried alive after a collapse in Anping Town.

The strong earthquake killed one person, injured 120 others, and 19 people are reportedly missing due to the tremor.

Aftermath

The tremor also shook the Sapporo City in Japan, which has a depth of approximately 2 miles, according to the US Geological Survey.
