PCOO officials are urging Duterte to fire Mocha Uson
Fire Mocha Uson is the current plea of 9 officials under the agency of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea received a letter with the petition to remove Uson as the PCOO Assistant Secretary.
This is in line with her controversial promotional video regarding Federalism. It has received criticisms from various groups and individuals.
Aside from the people in the government, celebrities from the world of show business, where Uson used to be a dancer-singer, also reacted about it.
Officials from her department, reportedly, petitioned to President Rodrigo Duterte to fire her.
Based on Rappler’s report, a source disclosed that Medialdea received a letter from 9 PCOO officials last Friday, August 17.
The letter stated their appeal to the Chief Executive for the “immediate removal from PCOO” of Uson.
The report also said that Medialdea expressed sympathy to the predicaments of the officials who went against the Asec.
Reportedly, he also told them that he understands where their sentiments are coming from. The Executive Secretary also said that Uson’s video also angered him.
On the other hand, Medialdea has not released his official statement yet regarding this matter.
PCOO’s concrete action on this, as of now, is a memo reminding all officials to be more mindful of their social media posts and to abide by gender-sensitive policies, based on the report.
Former Civil Service Commission chairperson Corazon Alma de Leon said that the Asec can be held liable if there is a public outcry. It will now depend on the head of the agency if he sees nothing wrong about what she did.
Previously, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has stated that Mocha Uson could be removed from her position in PCOO if she continues to misbehave.
