Lorena Tavera, a former beauty queen of El Paso was suspected for shoplifting at a mall in Texas on Friday. It was around 6:45pm when workers from El Paso’s Sunland Park Mall made reports saying that Tavera took a shirt worth $69 from Dillard’s.

Some mall employees relayed the story to the police saying that the 21-year-old woman arrested for shoplifting was identified to be the 2008 Miss El Paso. According to the reported statements, Tavera hid the Dillard’s shirt inside the plastic shopping bag that she carried and immediately attempted to head her way outside the said department store without giving her payment.
The workers called for the attention of the police who caught Tavera to face her charge for theft. Now, the former El Paso beauty queen would have to pay a charge that will not exceed to $500. It was also found out that she currently has at least 2 outstanding traffic warrants as what further reports say.

According to authorities, Tavera had been arrested in El Paso County Jail early on Saturday but following her $300 bond, she was then released later that day.
However, a Channel 9-KTSM reporter delivered on Monday that the information was just misinterpreted after all. Tavera chose not to give comments regarding the issue telling reporters to talk to her personal lawyer instead.
Her personal biography states she studied at the University of Texas at El Paso. In 2006, she was able to grab the crown for 2006 Miss Teen USA and ranked 6th for Miss Texas US few years after winning the prestigious pageant title. She even serves as a modelling instructor for Laura’s Productions.
Tavera is just one of the several pageant winners arrested due to some other legal cases in Texas.
