Vice Ganda opens up about coping with mental health struggles.
VICE GANDA- ‘It’s Showtime’ host Vice Ganda made a candid revelation about having suffered from depression recently.
In a previous report, Vice Ganda is labelled as one of the most prominent artists in the Philippine show business. The comedian is known for his humble beginning of starting out as a singer and a stand-up comedian in comedy bars.
Presently, Vice is dealing with a jam-packed schedule of shootings for ‘It’s Showtime’ and late night Sunday talk show ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’.
Based on an article from ABS-CBN News, the ‘Unkabogable Star’ recently revealed about past difficulties with regards to mental health issue when asked about his point of view on Sarah Geronimo’s latest emotional breakdown in the midst of her concert in Las Vegas.
Geronimo’s meltdown on the Las Vegas stage is currently making headlines in many news platforms in the Philippines. The singer honestly admitted being exhausted due to her busy schedule, revealing that she is continuously seeking for a different source of contentment after feeling a pang of ‘emptiness’ despite her accomplishments.
As stated in the report, the comedian said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s MJ Felipe that he could relate to the singer in relation to having experienced anxiety and difficulties with his work. He said he opted to seek for professional health to remain rational despite the condition.
“Na-depress ako. I underwent depression. I actually had to meet a doctor, and asked for professional help. Hindi ako nakakatulog… May mga atake sa akin, na nahihirapan ako magtrabaho,” he recounted.
Vice further said that battling with the condition made him thought of temporarily taking a hiatus in the entertainment industry.
According to him, he asked permission from the management to take a momentary break from the annual Metro Manila Film Festival and moderate his television shows.
However, the comedian’s perspective apparently changed after having an intimate conversation with couple and OPM icons Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.
Vice said he learned from the couple that ‘the mind is the playground of the devil’, thus, realizing he should not let the wicked take over his viewpoint in life.
He also opened up about realizing his purpose, remarking that the continuous blessings he receives come with responsibilities he ought to fulfill.
“Feeling ko, pinaglaruan ng devil ‘yung utak ko para malungkot ako, at hindi ako makapagpatawa, para isipin kong pagod na ako, at umayaw na ako, para hindi na ako magpatawa, para isipin kong hindi ako blessed at hindi ako masaya, para malungkot ako. In fact, I am so blessed. I am so happy pala. Hindi ko lang ‘to napapansin, kasi hinayaan ko ‘yung devil na paglaruan ang utak ko,” he said.
