Officials Of Arayat Town Demand Apology From ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsyano”
The officials of Arayat town in Pampanga province was demanding an apology from top TV series “Ang Probinsyano” starred by Coco Martin.
Most Filipinos were a huge fan of ABS-CBN’s popular TV series “Ang Probinsyano” because it reflects on the life of their viewers. Unfortunately, the Arayat officials were condemning the show for allegedly depicting the town of Arayat.
Mount Arayat town officials sent a resolution to the Pampanga provincial board criticizing the top rating teleserye and its main character Coco Martin, who’s also a native from Pampanga for allegedly putting the town in a bad light.
“Ang Probinsyano” was condemned by the officials of Arayat town due to its episodes featuring the town as the haven and breeding ground for the terrorists.
Arayat Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino also said that the resolution forwarded by the town officials was demanding ABS-CBN to make an apology and correct the wrong impression created by the telenovela.
The resolution wants to “call for a hearing and to make ABS-CBN apologize for the wrong impressions it created and to correct these [in the long-running telenovela],” said by Alejandrino quoted by Inquirer.
ABS-CBN explained that they had no intention to made the wrong impression to the town. It also said that the show bore no similarity to actual people and events, but Alejandrino argued that the teleserye portrayed a real place in the town and province.
On July 18, 2017, the storyline involving the rebel group “Pulang Araw” has been already ended. ABS-CBN also asked an apology to the local government of Arayat and explained that they had no intention to portray the town negatively.
Characters such as Coco Martin as the crime-fighting SPO2 Ricardo Dalisay and former Sen. Manuel “Lito” Lapid as a rebel commander were both natives of Pampanga playing the key roles in the show.
