Alleged Maute Spies Arrested By The Authorities During Raid In Cagayan de Oro
The authorities arrested the alleged spies for the Maute terror group including two women during the raid conducted in Cagayan de Oro.
On Wednesday (July 05, 2017), three persons including two woman were arrested by the authorities for allegedly acted as Maute spies during the raid conducted in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro.
The suspects were identified as Gazim Mantawazi Abdullah, Monaliza Solaiman Romato, and Tahera Romato Taher who were hiding in a house rented by Irene Romato Idris. Romato and Taher were acted gathering information for the terrorist, according to the military.
Judge Dennis Alcantar, executive judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 18 issued a search warrant for the suspect, which was carried by the raiding team. Macasandig village councilors Mario Bolanio and Eric Waban have also witnessed the raid.
The raiding team also recovered M203 grenades, jungle knife, plastic bag, eight pieces detonating cords, blasting cap, 19 pieces 100-watt incandescent bulbs, a plastic bottle containing suspected ammonium nitrate, and a C4 explosive.
Idris who evaded the arrest was a relative of Farhana Maute, the mother of Maute Group leaders Abdullah and Omar, according to Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police.
The items recovered from alleged Maute spies could be used to create improvised explosive devices, according to Hortillosa. He also said that suspected arrested in Cagayan raid were acting as liaison officers of the terrorist group.
The newly arrested suspects were currently detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headquarters. They will be charged with rebellion and illegal possession of explosives.
As of now, the siege in Marawi continues as the Maute Group spreads terrorism throughout the beleaguered city. The government forces were already doing their best in fighting the militants and stop the terrorism in the land.
