Just in, the Supreme Court upheld the declaration of Martial Law.
The Supreme Court confirms the validity of President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in the entirety of Mindanao due to the extremist’s intention to overran the place and make it a caliphate.
Prior to the announcement, there will be 15 justices to deliberate the declaration and will whether to approve the president’s signing of Proclamation 216.
According to the news report released by the Manila Bulletin, the result of the votation is 11-3-1 to which the SC upheld the law.
It can be recalled that the President was in Russia for a visit and meeting with its head as well but then he had to cut it short because the ISIS-inspired Maute group attacked the Marawi City thus, his immediate decision is to declare the law over the entirety of Mindanao for the safety and security of the country and the people.
