Female Foreign Journalist Isabel Yeung Fearlessly Enters Marawi Battle Zone To Report Updates

A fearless foreign journalist has entered the battleground in Marawi City in the middle of gun battles between the government forces and terrorists.

On May 23, 2017, the siege in Marawi City started severely affecting most of its residents. The exchange of deafening gun battles between the government forces and the Maute Terror Group started when the police troops raided the hideout of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon.

Hapilon allegedly asked for reinforcement from the Maute Terror Group who fought back the government forces, which turned the entire city into a chaotic scenery. The residents of Marawi City have already vacated their house fearing for their lives.

President Rodrigo Duterte even declared martial law throughout the entire region of Mindanao, but the ongoing conflict remains. The Maute Group remained in the beleaguered city and continued to spread terror in the area.

Isabel Yeung, an air correspondent for VICE NEWS HBO has fearlessly entered the conflict zone in Marawi City, where the sporadic firefight between the terrorists and government troops were happening.

Yeung entered the battle zone together with some of the military force of the Philippines. The soldiers and scout rangers assisted her to get inside of the building where the snipers’ outpost can be found.

The militaries were busy preparing for attacks and defending their post for safety precautions. They were also transferring base from time to time to avoid being caught by the militants who already took hundreds of lives.

The reporter also showed how the United States of America was supporting the Philippine soldiers in battling against the extremist in the besieged city.

Maj. Rowan Rimas, the operation officer of Philippine Marine Corps has explained the current situation in the city and showed Yeung the possible spots where the terrorists are hiding. The authorities also explained that they were already doing their best to handle the situation.

Yeung also reported that some civilians were still trapped inside Marawi City and waiting for the rescue teams.
