Motorcycle Theft Suspect in QC Arrested After Relatives Helped Authorities Locate Him

Relatives Help Police Capture Motorcycle Theft Suspect in QC Case

A 22-year-old motorcycle theft suspect in Quezon City was arrested after his own relatives helped authorities locate him.

In the early hours of June 15, 2026, the suspect was found in Rodriguez, Rizal, after a police investigation traced his location. Authorities said the stolen motorcycle was taken from the corner of Sgt. Esguerra Avenue and Scout Madriñan in Barangay South Triangle on the afternoon of June 11.

According to investigators, the motorcycle belonged to a foreman who had parked it in the area while carrying out work-related duties. He later realized that he had accidentally left the key in the vehicle. When he returned to retrieve it, the motorcycle had already disappeared.

Police reviewed several CCTV recordings from nearby areas and were able to identify the suspect. The footage reportedly showed the man approaching the motorcycle after coming from a church where he had received rice assistance.

Seeing that the key had been left behind, he allegedly took the opportunity to drive away with the vehicle.

The Kamuning Police immediately launched an extensive investigation. By tracking the suspect’s movements through various CCTV cameras, officers followed his route to Barangay Tatalon, where he was last seen.

Further inquiries in the community led them to some of his relatives, who eventually provided information about his location in Rodriguez, Rizal.

When police arrested the suspect, the stolen motorcycle was no longer in his possession. Investigators learned that it had already been sold for P14,000. The suspect admitted taking the vehicle and claimed that severe financial hardship pushed him to commit the crime.

“Ginawa ko po ‘yun kasi sadyang pangangailangan lang po namin,” the suspect said.

The suspect is now facing charges for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act. Meanwhile, authorities continue searching for the missing motorcycle.
