Direk Tonet revealed something about Julia Barretto and JoshLia
Award-winning director Antoinette Jadaone, fondly called Direk Tonet, revealed what she witnessed with former loveteam and relationship Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.
Joshua and Julia, known as the JoshLia tandem, first worked together in the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Vince and Kath and James. WIth the success of their first project together, more projects came along their way.
Just like other loveteams in the Philippine entertainment industry, Joshua and Julia also became a couple in real-life. However, when they broke up, they remained friends and still had appearances together.
Their last project together before their loveteam hiatus was the movie Block Z in 2020. One of the remarkable projects they had was a movie directed by Direk Tonet, titled Love You to the Stars and Back.
In the latest episode of “Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast” recently, Direk Tonet said that Joshua and Julia brought their misundersanding to the movie set, based on the article in Balita.
“Kasagsagan ng loveteam, kasagsagan ng pag-ibig nila. Ako nagdidirek lang, gusto ko lang namang gumawa ng pelikula. So parang dinadala talaga nila sa set [‘yong away],” the award-winning movie director said.
She also shared that when Joshua and Julia fight, they involve the movie in their “love quarrels.” However, when the two are happy, Direk Tonet was happy too.
It can be recalled that Joshua and Julia Barretto separated in 2019. But they are said to be on good terms with each other after the breakup. They even had a movie a few years after their breakup. They are even supported by their respective partners.
Before they had their onscreen reunion in the movie Unhappy For You, the former couple was featured in singer Moira dela Torre’s music video for the song Paubaya. For some JoshLia fans, that project seemed to have become a closure for their past.
