Group of Friends Get Surprise After Finding Out That River Already Dried Up
A group of friends in Puerto Princesa went through with their planned river outing, only to find out that the river had already dried up.
Many people often joke that plans with friends usually become “drawing” or never happen because someone suddenly backs out. But for this group of friends, the outing itself pushed through while the river unexpectedly became the real “drawing.”
According to Sherlyn Rivas, she and her friends Blith Angel Patnongon and Michelle Decierto decided to visit the Irawan River after experiencing the intense summer heat. One of their friends had previously visited the river and enjoyed swimming there just last month, so they thought it would be the perfect place to relax and cool down.
“Sa sobrang init ng panahon, biglang nag-chat si Michelle [na] maligo sa ilog doon sa Irawan, since nakaligo na po siya doon last month. And before kami pumunta, nagtanong po muna kami kung may tubig sa isang kakilala and sabi meron naman daw po kaya pinuntahan namin,” Rivas said.
Before leaving, they even asked someone familiar with the area if the river still had water. They were told there was still enough water for swimming, which made them more excited for the trip.
Despite the hot weather, the group walked for around 15 minutes just to reach the river. Along the way, however, someone told them that the river had already dried up. Even after hearing the warning, the friends still continued their walk because they wanted to see the situation for themselves.
When they finally arrived, they were surprised to find no water at all. Instead of a flowing river, they only saw dry rocks and empty surroundings. The river had reportedly dried up because of the extreme heat affecting the area.
Although disappointed, the friends chose to laugh about the situation instead of letting it ruin their day. They decided to stay in the area, rest, and enjoy a simple picnic together.
