Marian Rivera is set to have her television comeback
For the very first time, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera will play a mistress or “kabit” in a series.
Before her temporary break from the entertainment industry, Marian’s last teleserye was Super Ma’am in 2018. She returned to the big screen in 2023 for her reunion movie with her husband, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, titled Rewind.
The following year, she starred in another award-winning movie titled Balota, in which she earned the Best Actress for the Year at the first Philippine Arts, Film, and Television Awards (PAFTA).
This year, Marian Rivera is set to return to television with the new series Behind Closed Doors, which will be aired on Prime Video.
In the story, Marian will play the character of a journalist who is the mistress of the president of the Philippines, who will be played by Dingdong Dantes.
This will serve as the television reunion of the Kapuso couple, even though Dong only has a special participation in the series, based on the article in Bandera.
It was said that Dingdong was the one who convinced his wife to accept the project at the request of their director, Dominic Zapata. Direk Dom said to the Kapuso actor, “Dong, kumbinsihin mo si Yan na gawin ‘yung proyekto na ‘to, napakaganda. Ayun, buti pumayag si Yan.”
The director also shared that this is very offbeat for Marian, as she was known for her leading lady roles. In this upcoming series, she will portray a “kabit” and not just any “kabit” but the mistress of the president.
Marian Rivera shared that she would love to enter a world that she has not done before. “Ang character ko rito ay mistress, so first kong gagawin ‘to, and a journalist. First time ko rin ‘yun gagawin. Why not try something new? I think this is a good project for me,” she said.
The Kapuso Primetime Queen added that she has been seriously studying the job of a journalist to give justice to her character. Marian said that this project is really great and almost all the characters have a heart and a deep connection to each other.
