Singer Gigi De Lana opened up about her condition and revealed that she has been diagnosed with pericarditis, days after she collapsed.
To recall, clips of Gigi collapsing after performing at an event went viral online and alarmed many. Her fans and supporters got worried about her health condition, as that incident was not the first time it had happened.
The recent one was at the Peñaplata Freedom Park in Samal, Davao del Norte. She had a gig there, and after her last performance, she collapsed. She was tended immediately, and in a post from Gigi’s management, the cause was extreme exhaustion, and she received immediate medical care. She has rested and is now in stable condition.
Recently, days after collapsing, Gigi shared a video and opened up about her pericarditis diagnosis. During her Facebook Live, she confirmed this to her followers to explain what happened.
“I forgot to tell you, recently, my doctors actually confirmed that I have pericarditis, which means the lining around my heart is inflamed. Because of that, I sometimes experience sudden chest pain or attacks that can come randomly,” she shared.
The singer reassured fans that she is on the road to recovery and asked them not to worry, adding that she continues to be closely monitored by medical professionals. Although fearful, she is assured by her doctors that she will be closely monitored. She is also following their guidance.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, pericarditis “is an inflammation of the sac that contains your heart.” Among the main symptoms is a sharp chest pain that feels better when you lean forward. It can affect anyone, but it is most common in males between the ages of 16 and 65.
It can be caused by several factors, ranging from infections to injuries to your chest. However, in many cases, healthcare providers fail to identify the real reason.
