Thief Hurts Victim’s Pet Cat During Burglary  at an Apartment in Navotas City

A thief allegedly hurts the pet cat of one of the victims aside from stealing money and valuables in an apartment in Navotas City.

On early Monday morning at around 5 a.m, the incident took place in an apartment building located in Barangay NBBS Proper. Based on CCTV footage, a man wearing a face mask and with a tattoo on his right arm was seen quickly climbing over the wall of the building.

The thief’s fast movement reminded some residents of how Spider-Man climbs walls. After entering the compound, the suspect managed to break into two apartment units whose occupants were both away at work at that time. Reports said the man stayed inside the building for almost an hour.

CCTV footage also showed him entering through the door of a neighboring house. At one point, he even changed his clothes before finally leaving the area.

The victims later discovered that several of their belongings were missing. Among the items taken were around P8,000 pesos in cash, jewelry worth about P6,000, and a coin bank that had been saved for two years.

The victims said they worked hard to save that money despite the challenges they face in their daily jobs.

Aside from the stolen items, what hurt the victim the most was the condition of her pet cat. The animal was found injured, with part of its skin reportedly cut with a knife. The owner shared that the cat is very dear to their family and is treated like a member of their household. Seeing the pet hurt caused them great sadness.

Barangay officials believe the suspect may not be a resident of the area since most of the people living there already know each other. Security in the neighborhood has now been tightened as officials coordinate with the police to identify and arrest the suspect.
