Elderly Street Vendor Falls Asleep While Hanging on Jeep Due to Extreme Fatigue
An elderly street vendor falls asleep while hanging on a jeep due to extreme fatigue from a long day of work.
Recently, the Facebook page Filipino Trending Hub shared photo of an elderly street vendor who fell asleep while hanging on the side of a jeepney, exhausted from a long day of work. The post elicited reactions from the online community.
The man was later identified as Lolo Almael, a 65-year-old street vendor from Caloocan City who spends most of his days selling candies, biscuits, and small snacks along busy roads.

Lolo Almael earns a living by walking under the heat of the sun, with his goods hanging from his body as he moves from place to place. To save money, he often rides jeepneys by hanging at the back instead of sitting inside.
For him, every peso matters, especially when food and medicine are already hard to afford. On one tiring day, exhaustion took over and he unintentionally fell asleep while still holding onto the jeep.
A concerned passenger noticed his eyes were already closed and feared that he might lose his grip and fall. Out of concern, the passenger paid for Lolo Almael’s fare so he could sit safely inside the jeep. The simple act may have saved him from a serious accident.
In another post, an elderly vendor living alone touches hearts of netizens
Lolo Almael does not have a home of his own and only stays with a friend who allows him to take shelter. He never had children, so there are no family members to support him.
Each day, he earns around P100 pesos from selling snacks, just enough to eat two simple meals. From that small income, he also needs to buy medicine for his high blood pressure. Despite his situation, the elderly vendor continues to work quietly and honestly.
Kind-hearted individuals who may see Lolo Almael on the road are encouraged to buy from him if possible.
