Trillanes Dares Duterte: ‘Prove You’re Not Corrupt’

Senator Trillanes revived his corruption allegations against President Duterte.

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Trillanes, a known vocal critic of President Duterte challenge him to prove that his not a corrupt government leader.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revived his corruption allegation against President Duterte by revealing the transaction history of his alleged bank accounts that have at least P2 billion.

Last year, during the presidential campaign. Senator Trillanes accused Duterte that he has more than 2 billion in his bank accounts. He revealed that the money came from illegal sources.

At a press conference at the senate, Trillanes made the same accusation against the president. He challenged President Duterte to prove that he is wrong about his allegation.

“Ako ay naghamon noon na i-prove niya na ako ay mali…It’s nine months since, wala pa rin. Inuulit ko ang aking hamon na patunayan niya na mali ako, na meron siyang higit na P2 bilyon sa kanyang bank accounts,” GMA quoted Trillanes saying.

Senator Trillanes vowed to resign from the senate if proven wrong.

“Pagka nailabas ‘yung transaction history niya at ako ay mali, ako ay magre-resign sa Senado,” the senator added.

However, in an interview on News to go on Thursday with the Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, he said that it is up for the senator to prove his allegations against President Duterte.

“Let him prove that… The burden of proof goes back to him,” Abella said.

Malacañang said that President has no time to respond to Senator Trillanes accusation as he is focused on nation-building in the country.

Furthermore, a close ally of president Duterte, Senator Cayetano defended Duterte and called Trillanes “Kuryente King.”
