Robin Padilla warned the public against this online scam
Senator Robin Padilla had this reaction upon learning that he was being used to promote online gambling.
Some online gambling sites are legal. Several celebrities have been openly endorsing apps and online gambling sites. However, many Filipinos are not in favor of this as they would criticize celebrities and social media personalities who are endorsers of online gambling.
However, there were instances in which the identities of celebrities and social media personalities were being used to promote online gambling without their knowledge.

Senator Robin Padilla was one of the victims of this online scam. In one of his recent social media posts, based on the article in Bandera, the actor-turned-politician shared a screenshot of a post with his face as promotional material for an online gambling site.
“Napakalaking kalokohan at kaso ang maaaring ipataw sa gumawa ng scam na ito. Wag po kayo kumagat sa malaking kabulastugan at krimen na ito,” the senator said.
He also stressed that he has a lot of proposed bills against online gambling. For him, this is the “anay ng lipunan.”
To recall, in July 2025, some lawmakers proposed a bill aiming to regulate online gambling to control people’s addiction. Many netizens showed support for what Sen. Robin Padilla shared on his social media page.

Here are some comments. “Ebanned na ang AI apps sa pinas napakaraming nasira na imahe dahil dyan senator,” a netizen commented, while the other one said, “Sen Robin Padilla sampulan mo po para Hindi pamarisan subrang daming online sugal ginagamit ang ai video mo kaya gawan mo po ng aksyon nasisira po nila image mo.”
Meanwhile, in December 2025, one social media comment that the senator shared went viral. It was when he declared that he would not be running in 2028. He made this comment to a post about a social media personality’s list of senatorial candidates.
The Senator thanked the uploader for the support, but he said that he should not be included in the list because he has no plan to continue his political career in the next national elections.
